We’re halfway through our 2025/2026 challenge series, who will come out on top?!

The next challenge is coming up on May 8-10, we hope to see more teams on the leaderboard 👀

📣In spirit of our upcoming partnership with @hersportsfest , the OWA spoke with a few female athletes to find out what draws them, and possibly others, into the sport of weightlifting!

Olympic weightlifting has become an amazing outlet for a lot of female athletes of all ages. It is a sport that creates not only strength but coordination, power and resilience. Whether the source of trying weightlifting is to assist in other sports, the joy of getting involved in a new sport, or the bragging rights of putting your body weight over your head👀

The sport has proven to be a great community space for girls of ALL ages. 💜

Weights are a tool that can be utilized to build better body awareness. Finding a club near you to learn the basic and properly progress through the movements and load is a good place to start.

Join the OWA at @hersportsfest this spring to experience weightlifting yourself! No experience necessary, just enthusiasm 😄

The preliminary start list has now been posted. With a large number of participants in this competition, adjustments are expected as we finalize sessions and process changes such as athlete withdrawals and weight class changes. All athletes, coaches, and clubs are strongly encouraged to review the start list carefully and remain mindful that updates may occur.

Please ensure you check the FINAL start list once it is published, as this will reflect all confirmed sessions, start times, and athlete placements.

🚨OWA’s 2026/2027 memberships are open for registration!

The new season starts on April 1, 2026 and runs to March 31, 2027. Athletes looking to compete at the upcoming Ontario Masters Championships will need this membership.

Club registration is also open. All OWA members will need to be affiliated with a registered club.

⚠️ As part of our early registration initiative, the first 100 athletes to register for their membership will be automatically entered into a draw for a chance to win one of five $25 discount codes, which can be applied to future Ontario Weightlifting Association event registrations!
