Qualifying Standards
All competition dates are subject to change based on the latest government mandates.
New for 2020/2021: ALL Coaches at any Elite Competition must now be fully Competition-Introduction Certified.
Elite Competitions have Qualifying Standards that must be achieved in order to be eligible to enter and compete.
2020 Ontario Senior/Junior/YouthChampionships - Elite
DATE: This competition has been POSTPONED to March 19/20, 2021. The Senior Championships will take place in conjunction with the 2020 Ontario Junior/Youth Championships.
QUALIFYING STANDARDS: The qualifying period for invitations has been completed. All athletes who were registered to compete will be invited to register for the postponed event. Any remaining invitations will be extended based on rankings outlined here.
Note: for Closed Club, Inter-Club and OWA Club Challenge Competitions, 3 accredited OWA Technical Officials must be used in the position of Referees in order to qualify for the Ontario Championships.
2020 Ontario Youth/Junior Championships - Elite
DATE: Will take place in conjunction with the 2020 Ontario Senior Championships. See above for details.
QUALIFYING STANDARDS: There will be no qualifying standards for this event, and all Junior athletes who are members in good standing with the OWA by November 1, 2020 will be invited to participate.

2021 WinterLift - Elite
DATE: February 6, 2021
QUALIFYING STANDARDS: See table below
QUALIFYING PERIOD: Standards must be achieved at a sanctioned competition between September 1, 2020 and January 10, 2021. Qualifying period, date and location of competition subject to change based on government requirements.
Note: Closed Club, Inter-Club and OWA Club Challenges can be used to establish minimum standards for WinterLift with at least 2 certified referees as long as they are performed 30 days ahead of the competitions and as long as the OWA Club Challenge falls within the corresponding qualification period.
2021 Ontario Classic - CANCELLED
This event has been cancelled due to the postponement of the 2020 Ontario Senior/Junior/Youth Championships to March 2021.

QUALIFYING PERIOD: October 1, 2020 - March 30, 2021
Athletes who are unable to compete in the Ontario Senior/Junior/Youth Championships for valid reasons must submit a Request for Exemption Form.
In addition to athletes who have qualified by reaching the standards, each provincial association has the privilege of bringing 4 more athletes (2 men, and 2 women), who did not achieve these standards but who must be 24 years of age or younger.
Note: Non-qualified athletes may not compete more than two times at the Canadian National Championships. Athletes must achieve the standards to compete at the Canadian National Championships after two years as a non-qualified athlete.
