EVENT DESCRIPTION
​
Summer Fest is a one-day open competition held on August 9th, providing athletes with an early opportunity to prepare for fall events. The meet takes place during the qualification window for both the Ontario Classics and Ontario Senior Championships.
​
We’re also pleased to share that Summer Fest has been designated by Weightlifting Canada Haltérophilie (WCH) as an international qualifying event.

Toronto Weightlifting is proud to host Summer Fest at Kanama High Performance, an elite athletic facility located on Cosentino Drive in Scarborough. The venue is situated in an industrial area, with numerous restaurants nearby along Progress Avenue and Midland Avenue.

Ottawa Club Challenge is a multi-club event run alongside the Ontario Club Challenge Series. This event is designed to make well-run weightlifting competitions more accessible to athletes in the Ottawa area.
This event is also run to such standards that your totals can be used to qualify for elite/provincial events. Clubs that have participated in the past include: Landmark x Justlift, CanAM, 1855, United Counties Weightlifting, and Nepean Weightlifting.

MINI / Young Hercules is a youth-focused Olympic weightlifting competition designed to inspire and support the next generation of lifters. Hosted at the inclusive and accessible Variety Village in Scarborough, this event is open to athletes 17 years old and under, with age groups and sessions designed to ensure a fun, fair, and developmentally appropriate experience.

Whether you're new to the platform or aiming for personal bests, MINI / Young Hercules is the perfect opportunity for young athletes to showcase their skills, build confidence, and connect with peers in a supportive, family-friendly environment.
​
This event emphasizes fun, safety, and proper technique over competition results, and is ideal for clubs looking to introduce their younger lifters to the excitement of sanctioned events.

Variety Village is a fully accessible, offering free on-site parking, an on-site café, accessible change rooms and showers, and free Wi-Fi throughout the venue. The facility includes a large fieldhouse, modern fitness areas, and accessible amenities, making it an ideal location for youth events. With a welcoming environment and convenient features for athletes and families, Variety Village is the perfect host for MINI / Young Hercules.

This competition marks Back Alley Barbell’s first sanctioned OWA meet. Over the years, they've hosted numerous in-house competitions for Powerlifting, Olympic Weightlifting, and Strongman, as well as collaborative events with external partners like George Brown College, TMU, and UofT, each with an athlete cap of 50+. As the only venue in downtown Toronto capable of regularly hosting events of this scale, we’re thrilled to expand our efforts beyond what we can do in-house and host multiple competitions annually, further promoting Olympic Weightlifting and establishing Ontario as a premier hub for the sport.
