EVENT DESCRIPTION

​

Summer Fest is a one-day open competition held on August 9th, providing athletes with an early opportunity to prepare for fall events. The meet takes place during the qualification window for both the Ontario Classics and Ontario Senior Championships.

​

We’re also pleased to share that Summer Fest has been designated by Weightlifting Canada Haltérophilie (WCH) as an international qualifying event.

Toronto Weightlifting is proud to host Summer Fest at Kanama High Performance, an elite athletic facility located on Cosentino Drive in Scarborough. The venue is situated in an industrial area, with numerous restaurants nearby along Progress Avenue and Midland Avenue.

Ottawa Club Challenge is a multi-club event run alongside the Ontario Club Challenge Series. This event is designed to make well-run weightlifting competitions more accessible to athletes in the Ottawa area.

 

This event is also run to such standards that your totals can be used to qualify for elite/provincial events. Clubs that have participated in the past include: Landmark x Justlift, CanAM, 1855, United Counties Weightlifting, and Nepean Weightlifting.

Join us on Sunday, August 10th for a fun, local-level Olympic weightlifting meet, open to all LOCAL clubs as part of the Ontario Weightlifting Association’s Club Challenge Series. This is a great opportunity for new lifters, CrossFit athletes, and club members to gain experience on the platform in a relaxed setting.

Opened in May 2025, CrossFit Creed is a community-focused fitness hub located at 2223 Hamilton Road, Trenton. The facility offers a wide range of programs, including coach-led CrossFit classes with strength work and daily WODs, Olympic Weightlifting, Pilates (in partnership with Match Movement), and yoga sessions focused on mobility and recovery. With 24/7 gym access, CrossFit Creed welcomes military personnel, shift workers, and community members with busy schedules, providing flexible training opportunities in a supportive environment.

MINI / Young Hercules is a youth-focused Olympic weightlifting competition designed to inspire and support the next generation of lifters. Hosted at the inclusive and accessible Variety Village in Scarborough, this event is open to athletes 17 years old and under, with age groups and sessions designed to ensure a fun, fair, and developmentally appropriate experience.

​

Whether you're new to the platform or aiming for personal bests, MINI / Young Hercules is the perfect opportunity for young athletes to showcase their skills, build confidence, and connect with peers in a supportive, family-friendly environment.

​

This event emphasizes fun, safety, and proper technique over competition results, and is ideal for clubs looking to introduce their younger lifters to the excitement of sanctioned events.

Variety Village is a fully accessible, offering free on-site parking, an on-site café, accessible change rooms and showers, and free Wi-Fi throughout the venue. The facility includes a large fieldhouse, modern fitness areas, and accessible amenities, making it an ideal location for youth events. With a welcoming environment and convenient features for athletes and families, Variety Village is the perfect host for MINI / Young Hercules.

This competition marks Back Alley Barbell’s first sanctioned OWA meet. Over the years, they've hosted numerous in-house competitions for Powerlifting, Olympic Weightlifting, and Strongman, as well as collaborative events with external partners like George Brown College, TMU, and UofT, each with an athlete cap of 50+. As the only venue in downtown Toronto capable of regularly hosting events of this scale, we’re thrilled to expand our efforts beyond what we can do in-house and host multiple competitions annually, further promoting Olympic Weightlifting and establishing Ontario as a premier hub for the sport.

NCCP Competition-Introduction Course

NCCP Competition Introduction – Analyse Performance

​

The Ontario Weightlifting Association (OWA) is hosting an NCCP Competition Introduction – Analyse Performance course on September 20th to September 21, 2025, at Elevated Training Centre in London. This program is designed for coaches who aim to prepare athletes for accredited weightlifting competitions.

​

Registration Fee: $365

Athlete Registration Deadline: September 12th, 2025

​

Course Facilitator: Larry Robinson

​

Course Description: Coaches will learn to analyse technical performance in Olympic weightlifting with the goal of preparing beginner athletes for local competitions. Instruction includes progressions for teaching Olympic lifts, corrective cues, and exercises to address technical errors. Participants will also explore basic coaching strategies, athlete developmental stages, competition structure, and rules.

 

The course culminates in managing an athlete through an informal competition scenario.

Critical Performance Statement: Upon completion, coaches will be able to competently instruct and correct Olympic weightlifting techniques to develop competitive athletes.

EVENT DESCRIPTION

The 2025 Ontario Classic, hosted by Burlington Barbell at CrossFit Connection, kicks off the Ontario Elite season. This high-level competition is designed for athletes pursuing provincial and national success. With minimum start totals required, the Classic sets the tone for Ontario’s most competitive lifters and serves as a key milestone in the lead-up to Senior Provincials.

CrossFit Connection is a modern, open-concept facility known for its vibrant training community and strong support for Olympic weightlifting. It is home to Burlington Barbell, one of Ontario’s most consistent and competitive clubs. Conveniently located in Burlington, the venue offers on-site parking, athlete-focused amenities, and easy access from the QEW.​
