DESCRIPTION
 

The 2026 Ray Hamilton - Bob LeClair Classic continues one of Ontario weightlifting’s longest-running competition traditions. First staged in 2001, the event is named in honour of Ray Hamilton and Bob LeClair, two pioneers who helped establish and grow the sport of weightlifting in Northern Ontario.

For more than two decades, the competition has brought together athletes and clubs from across Northeastern Ontario and Northwestern Quebec. With its strong regional roots and long history, the Ray Hamilton - Bob LeClair Classic offers athletes of all levels an opportunity to take the platform, chase personal bests and be part of a competition that celebrates the weightlifting community in Northern Ontario.

LOCATION

​

The competition will be held at the YMCA of Northeastern Ontario in North Bay. The YMCA is a well-established community sport and recreation facility featuring a large multi-purpose gymnasium along with extensive fitness and aquatic facilities.

Known as the “Gateway to the North,” North Bay is situated between Lake Nipissing and Trout Lake and combines the amenities of a regional centre with the scenery and outdoor character of Northern Ontario. Athletes and families visiting for the competition can explore the city’s Lake Nipissing waterfront, parks and trails, local restaurants and attractions while enjoying a weekend of weightlifting in one of Northern Ontario’s major sporting communities.

DESCRIPTION
 

The Ontario Classic brings together athletes from across the province for a high-level competition designed to provide an accessible pathway into Ontario’s Elite weightlifting calendar.

Unlike other Elite competitions that require athletes to achieve a qualifying total, entry into the Ontario Classic is based on a minimum start total. This format provides athletes with a more open opportunity to enter the Elite competition stream, establish results and compete alongside some of Ontario’s top weightlifters.

Athletes will take the platform representing clubs from across Ontario, with opportunities to challenge personal bests, gain valuable competition experience and build toward the major events later in the Elite calendar.

LOCATION

The competition will be hosted by Burlington Barbell in Burlington, Ontario. Burlington Barbell is an established weightlifting club with a dedicated training and competition environment well suited to hosting high-level Olympic weightlifting.

The venue offers ample, free and safe parking and is conveniently located near high-quality hotels, restaurants, shopping and other amenities, making it an excellent destination for athletes, coaches, officials and spectators travelling from across the province.

With convenient access from major highways and its location in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area, Burlington Barbell provides an accessible and welcoming setting to open Ontario’s Elite competition calendar.

The 2026 Kitchener Masters Open is the only Masters-specific competition on Ontario’s fall calendar, bringing together Masters athletes for a dedicated competition while remaining open to lifters of all ages.

​

With a welcoming competition environment, the Kitchener Masters Open is a great opportunity for beginner athletes looking to gain experience and seasoned lifters preparing for the next stage of their competitive season.

​

Masters athletes are eligible for medals and Best Lifter awards. Non-Masters athletes may enter the competition as guest lifters but are not eligible for awards.

​

The 2026 Kitchener Masters Open is also an opportunity to achieve qualifying results for the 2027 Ontario Championships, Winterlift and National Championships.

LOCATION

The competition will be hosted at Gym 41 in Kitchener, Ontario, providing athletes, coaches and spectators with a dedicated strength and weightlifting environment for the event.

​

Located in Kitchener and easily accessible from Waterloo, Cambridge and surrounding communities, Gym 41 provides a convenient location for athletes travelling throughout Southwestern Ontario and the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area.

This is an OWA-accredited coaching event. All individuals requiring access to the competition backroom must be registered and accredited with the OWA.

To receive backroom accreditation, individuals must:

• Be registered in the NCCP system and have an NCCP number.

• Have completed the required Safe Sport training.

• Register for backroom accreditation through the event registration system.

DESCRIPTION
 

The 2026 Ontario Juvenile, Youth & Junior Championships is Ontario's largest provincial event dedicated to young weightlifters. The championships provide an opportunity for athletes to compete for provincial titles, set personal bests, challenge Ontario records and gain valuable experience on a championship platform. For many competitors, this event represents an important milestone in their development and a stepping stone toward national and international competition.

More than just a competition, the Ontario Juvenile, Youth & Junior Championships celebrate the next generation of Ontario weightlifting, recognising the dedication of young athletes, their coaches and the clubs helping to build the future of the sport.

LOCATION

The competition will be held at Landmark Strength, located at 44 Iber Road, Unit 3, in Ottawa, Ontario. Hosted by Landmark x JustLift, the facility offers over 11,000 square feet of air-conditioned training space, equipped with Olympic weightlifting platforms, Eleiko barbells and bumper plates. The venue features ample on-site parking, three bathrooms (including one accessible washroom), two showers and a water bottle filling station. Its spacious layout and dedicated weightlifting equipment provide an excellent setting for provincial championship competition.

Ottawa, Canada's capital city, offers athletes and families a wide range of attractions and activities beyond the competition platform. Visitors can explore Parliament Hill, the historic ByWard Market, the Rideau Canal and the city's many museums, restaurants and cultural attractions.

With its combination of national landmarks, vibrant neighbourhoods and recreational opportunities, Ottawa offers plenty to experience for athletes and families travelling to the championships.
